“Gay Night at the Circus Spectacular” presented by the New England Center for Circus Arts! March 2

2019 details are still being finalized! The 2018 Celebrity host Ringmaster was Keith Nelson, multi skilled star and co-founder of the Bindlestiff Family Circus, a national traveling theater-based circus. Keith learned to juggle and eat fire while in college. Since then he has learned to swallow swords, educate through vaudeville, be a clown, and run an American circus company. He has performed on Broadway and on stages and festivals around the world including: Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall (NYC), Glastonbury Festival (UK), AEMI International Clown Festival (China), SuperGiant Carnival (Thailand) as well as the Today Show and Late Night with David Letterman. Keith adds a contemporary twist to the grand traditions of American Circus and will share his talents as the connective entertainment between other star studded acts.

Other 2018 highlight performers convening in Brattleboro from around the world included –

  • Joel Herzfeld will perform a clever handbalancing act in which he remains upside down and his feet have a conversation, as well as an upbeat rock and roll cyr wheel act. Herzfeld has most recently performed with acclaimed Canadian company Les 7 Doigts De La Main on the national US tour of the award winning Broadway show ‘Pippin’.

  • Shannon McKenna will be bringing her aerial silks number from Berlin’s Wintergarten variete theater. McKenna trained in physical theater before discovering circus and brings a captivating strength and creativity to her work.
  • Duo aerialists Kyla Ernst-Alper & Sylvana Tapia will truly grace the stage, as they are dancers turned aerialists who have performed together in London, Mumbai, and The Bahamas, as well as in the United States. Known as RAVEN, the duo calls New York City home and can regularly be seen at The Slipper Room, The House of YES, and The Box.
  • Other performers include Elise Sipos (Washington, DC), Cassady Rose Bonjo (New York, NY), Lauren Breunig (Brattleboro, VT), and perennial favorites to enlighten the evening are Vermont’s clown treasure Troy Wunderle and Canada’s mime star Mario Diamond.
