Entrepreneur, Robert Geller, widely known throughout the Tampa Bay gay community for his popular retail stores, Bourbon St. Boxers and what2wear, embarked on a new venture in 2008, Outings & Adventures, LLC designed to foster camaraderie among gay men.

Looking for an alternative, that did not exist, to the same old bar scene and technology’s proliferation of stunted communication through way too many on-line hook up sites, Robert with the support of his dear friends (Lisa, Rani, Brian & Travis) set out to create a new social norm…Outings & Adventures, the new place for fun.

During its first year and half, O&A received many emails from gay women asking for their own O&A.  In July 2009, Barbara Voglewede met with Robert and proposed that the two of them go forward to create O&A Women.  Sharing a similar zeal for adventure and philosophy on bringing the gay community together in enriching ways, Barbara and Robert worked together and launched O&A Women in the Fall of 09′.  Soon after, they began offering women-only events, as well as combined events for gay men and gay women.  Through their ongoing partnership, they’ve expanded O&A to create a multitude of unique, quality experiences for gay men and women, and also enrich the larger community through a wide variety of charitable events.

O&A is about meaningful interactions. It’s about doing good for yourself and others. It’s about being connected, a sense of community. Hey, if Oprah can do it for straight women then why the hell not have a place for gay men and women (either amongst themselves in private events or together with their like-minded friends).

O&A is a place where all gay women, men, single and coupled are welcome!  It’s not about being in a clique where some control freak decides who gets invited based on……?

Quite simply, if you have an interest in an event, show up. (wait, don’t just show up, you have to pre-register in most cases, check out the individual event listings for all the details). You can try a new activity or participate in one you already enjoy and….bonus…meet other like-minded gay members of the community who are there for same reason. No hidden agenda. If they wanted a quick hook up they’d be on one those free hunting sites, you know the ones, at the top of your screen booked marked under favorites, just like Outings & Adventures.

So that your expectations are met, look for the W, M, and E icons next to all of our events (as shown below), which clearly identify those for gay women only, gay men only, or everyone.

Outings & Adventures events are meticulously planned with attention paid to every detail. With activities appealing to varied interests and no prior experience, ranging from O&A Book Club, ‘the other O book club,’ to skydiving and everything else in between, your social calendar will fill up with so many great opportunities to back away from that computer and make real off line connections with other gay men and women.
