Pics: O&A Photography Workshop
O&Aers gathered on the beautiful grounds of a Thai Buddhist Temple for a wonderful afternoon of photography!
We started with a visit to the food market on the grounds to get some Thai dishes for lunch. From fried bananas and pumpkin curry to satays and big steaming bowls of noodle soup, it was all delicious! We enjoyed our lunch while mingling and getting to know one another. We were thrilled to have four newcomers join our ranks – Brandy, Jen, Michael, and Tarren. We look forward to seeing you at many more O&A events in the future!
After our mingle, we began our workshop, led by the very accomplished photojournalist Sheryl (Sharone) Kay. She shared many invaluable tips with us, both practical and artistic, and discussed how important it was to think outside of the box and push ourselves to explore the great canvas before our camera lens. Then she set us out to take our own photographs, giving us a short list of different angles, settings, and subjects to try and capture. The temple itself, the food market, the orchid garden, the river, the picnic grounds – all provided ample opportunity to take some incredible shots!
After shooting, we all reconvened to present our pictures and discuss them, in light of what we had learned. Many excellent photos were taken, and each of us expressed how much fun we had taking them. All in all, it was a tremendous learning experience! Below are just some of the photos taken. Thank you to Kim Dohrman, Nile Mueller, and Tarren Money for adding their photos to ours for the gallery below.
Special thanks to Sharone for such an excellent workshop!
