O&A at Folkfest!

o&a is proud to be an official sponsor of folkfest st. pete 2010, and the exclusive gay event sponsor for festival performances by lorna bracewell, indigo girls, and dar williams!

folkfest st. pete is an annual street folk art and music festival held in downtown st. pete outside of Creative Clay Cultural Arts Center, which hosts the event every year.  Creative Clay has served those with developmental disabilities in the tampa bay area for over 15 years.  it created folkfest to celebrate art and draw as many people as possible to its door, to see firsthand the creativity, passion, and artistic expression that takes place there. proceeds from the festival help Creative Clay make the arts more accessible to populations that are underserved.

in 2009, more than 20,000 participants enjoyed folkfest.  this year, the festival has expanded to three days, oct. 1-3.  it will feature over 60 folk artists from across the united states, and over a dozen musical performances, including lorna bracewell, indigo girls, and dar williams.  for a complete listing of all artists, visit www.creativeclay.org.

o&a has witnessed firsthand the amazing, inspiring programs Creative Clay offers, and the joy it brings to those it serves.  check out this short video!

we want to do all we can to keep Creative Clay’s programs going!   you can make a difference by helping us help Creative Clay. we seek volunteers to staff the festival, as well as to help Creative Clay in the months leading up to the festival.

among the needs are help with festival set up and break down, booth sitters, assistance with art and merchandise sales, art gallery greeters, runners for some of the musical performers, o&a caterer assistance, and festival clean up.   shifts range from 2-3 hours each.  more information about the volunteer benefits, shift schedules, and shift responsibilities is posted at the link below.

as a special bonus for o&a volunteers, all those working at least 4 hours will receive a free meal voucher with our generous catering sponsor, island seafood market!

in addition, all o&a volunteers working a total of at least 5 hours during the festival will receive a pass to o&a’s exclusive vip section near the concert stage!

and finally, the two o&a volunteers serving the greatest number of hours at* Creative Clay leading up to the festival will be invited to join a small meet & greet with the indigo girls on oct. 1! (*this special volunteer service requires a separate orientation which is offered only once a month, on the last tuesday of the month)
